What does your first visit involve?
Welcome
When you arrive for your first appointment, we warmly greet you and show you our facilities and comfortable waiting area. We may also ask you to fill in some new patient forms if you haven’t already done so.
Consultation
At the time of your appointment, your dentist welcomes you and shows you into the surgery. Your consultation begins with an informal chat, as we get to know you and your oral health. We ask you about your past medical and dental history, and listen to any concerns you may have about your teeth or gums.
Examination
The main part of your appointment is a comprehensive examination of your teeth and gums. We check all areas of your mouth, looking for any signs of gum disease or decay. We also check for any early symptoms of mouth cancer. If necessary, we take pain-free digital x-rays for a detailed view under your gums.
Treatment plan
We share our findings from your examination with you, and explain any further treatment needed. If necessary, we devise your bespoke treatment plan, outlining the procedures involved and expected costs. We also give you the chance to ask us any questions.
